Iron Man Swan Pool

At 8.00 am Sunday 25th September competitors from Heanor made their way to Swan Pool Birmingham to take place in the Iron Man Competition comprising of a 1100m run, 600m swim, 900m run, 1500m board, 800m run, 3000m ski and a final 1100m run.
This was an exciting event to watch with Jack Lilley completing the running, Jayne and Emma Stallion the swimming and board events, and Paul Anderson the ski. The team went into the final leg in second place and an exciting final run by Jack meant the team finished in first place, a first for the club and the four individuals for this event.
This was a really exciting race to watch working through the logistics oftransitions and how to make the most of individual strengths. The success of “The Fantastic Four” will hopefully encourage others to join them for similar events in the future.

Congratulations to Heanor swimmers at Eckington

On 22nd October Heanor swimming club were lucky enough to take twenty of their finest young lifesavers, to represent the club at Sheffield Lifesaving Club’s 29th Annual Life Saving Competition . Teams competed in three different age categories under 12, under 14, and under 17 and medals were won across the board in all three age categories, with the 14 and unders successfully defending the 14 and under overall winning club title. This will be the third time in the last five years Heanor have won this title. Not to be out done bronze medals were also won in the 12 and under and 16 and under age categories.
Competitors had to deal with a simulated emergency response situation, with Heanor winning gold in the 14 age category, followed by a series of speed swimming events and a rope throw event and bronze medals were won across all three age categories.
The day provided many memorable swims and examples of individuals pushing themselves way out of their own comfort zone to perform and support their team. For some members it was their first competition.
Congratulations to all competitors for an outstanding performance.
